Across large parts of the Baltic States, farmers are facing the growing challenge of soil compaction. Years of fieldwork with heavy machinery, often under challenging conditions, have led to increasingly compacted soils. Poor drainage further reduces the available working window, forcing operations to be carried out under wet conditions and causing compaction to go deeper into the soil. This cycle repeats itself season after season, accelerating soil degradation.
Grassland is particularly vulnerable. Because it often remains untouched for many years, compaction in the subsoil can build up unnoticed, with long-term consequences.
The consequences are clearly visible:
Evers Agro actively supports farmers in the Baltic States in addressing these compaction issues.
Through new partnerships with AR-Agro in Latvia and Agri Partner in Estonia, Evers machines for grassland optimisation and deep tillage are being demonstrated and supplied locally, helping farmers restore soil structure effectively and sustainably, with great success.
Farmer Tönis is one of the farmers who faced serious soil compaction issues. Together with Agri Partner, he discovered how to remove this compaction without damaging the topsoil.
